“I am incredibly proud to be appointed as Managing Director for Halcyon Care Homes; joining the company in June 2020, with absolute passion and excitement to lead the teams in delivering the highest standards of quality care.”
When Daniel talks about his career, he talks of a journey and that journey interlinks with that of the lives of each resident he has cared for over the last 18 years, not that he looks old enough!
Daniel started his journey in social care when he was 17 years old, working weekends whilst at college; something he quickly grew to love.
“I remember each resident that I met back then, their stories and life experiences; it was a privilege.”
Daniel spent many years at this care home and when reminiscing, recalls so many individuals who had lived lives that he could only dream of. In so many ways each person enriched his journey and at that point he realised, his responsibility was to provide new stories and experience for them; enriching their lives in the way they had his. This ethos stays with him today.
During the time at this care home, Daniel embarked on the next stage of his journey, joining the University of Manchester to become a Registered Adult Nurse and whilst he loved his time in the NHS, Social care was where my heart lay.
It was not long after qualifying as Registered Nurse that Daniel was recognised by the large provider he worked for, as their Nurse of The Year and in the same year he was honoured to be a finalist for The Nursing Times Rising Star Award.
Daniel’s journey since then has been incredible, he moved down South to Essex as a Commissioning Deputy Manager and also spent time in a regional role, supporting homes through periods of transition. He then, took a leap of faith and changed providers, initially joining a home in Ipswich as Deputy Manager, a year after this was successful in promotion to General Manager and in the same year that home was recognised as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.
In November 2018, the provider asked for Daniel to transfer to another home in Billericay as General Manager and he is very proud to share that in February 2020, this home was also awarded Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.
As Managing Director, Daniel is responsible for leading the home teams to ensure the quality of service provided is of the highest standards for all residents. he will be working alongside the wider Halcyon team and General Managers in order to achieve this, promoting a positive, engaged and empowered culture.
“If the team are treated as individuals then in turn, this will be emulated in the care that they provide.”
“I have enjoyed each step of my journey and look forward to the journey yet to come with Halcyon Care Homes”
