Freshly baked goods filled the air of Hazel End Care Home on Wednesday afternoon when staff and residents gave ‘The Great British Bake Off’ a run for its money. Staff were invited to bake cakes, biscuits, pastries, and other baked goods. A special guest panel of residents put on their best Mary Berry judging hats as they tasted each of the delicious treats, to test whether they were up to scratch.

This was a great event for both residents and staff, as rather than being a regular baking competition, this allowed for the whole home to get involved.

Operations Director Daniel said “It was lovely to see the amount of time and effort that the staff had put into their baked goods. The residents really enjoyed being the judges”

Resident Charles commented “It was first class bake off. I thoroughly enjoyed judging it, especially the carrot cake.”

Reema commented “good company, good fun and even better cakes”.

Irene stated, ‘A nice bit of entertainment really, good to have a laugh”.

Deputy Manager Louise said “A lip smacking good time, even though I didn’t win… I am not bitter at all’.
