Joan Russell aged 81 and Eric Russell aged 81 from Suffolk, now residing in Marham House Care Home, celebrated their 36th Wedding Anniversary this week and had a lot to reminisce over whilst they shared a celebratory slice of cake.
Joan and Eric originally initially met at kindergarten in Weymouth. When Eric went to boarding school, they would only ever occasionally bump into each other during school holidays and church functions. At this time Joan and Eric were just friends however, their relationship blossomed, and, on the 22nd September 2020, they celebrated their 36th Wedding Anniversary.
Staff at Marham House wanted to make the day as special as possible, so organised for the lovely couple to have a special cake made to mark the occasion.
Joan stated, “The secret to a happy marriage is thinking of the other person and doing what you can to help each other.” Joan wants to be involved in making the home a good, happy place, for all residents to live in and for us all to work together for the benefit of everyone. Joan introduced the knitting circle to Marham House and the group has proved very popular.
Marham House’s facilities include spacious and luxurious social areas, stylish décor and secure gardens and grounds that are open to all guests and residents. All 66 bedrooms are en-suite, giving our residents an independent lifestyle while at the same time supporting their needs. In this way, our staff can deliver person-centred care in a dignified, understated way. We believe that no one should come into our home unless we are going to be able to make their lives better, make their days easier and support them in leading the life they choose to lead.
